Taking Pride: including sexual and gender minorities in aid programming

September 5 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Sexual and gender minorities are often overlooked in aid and development programming. Despite the sector’s commitment to providing assistance and protection to vulnerable or marginalised groups, the needs of sexual and gender minorities are often not addressed in policies, plans and programs.

Kate Sutton, Director at Humanitarian Advisory Group, will moderate a panel discussion with professionals from the sector to talk about the field realities of including of sexual and gender minorities in both disaster response and in long-term development programs, and the overall barriers and enablers to more inclusive aid. Panelists include: Elsa Carnaby, Disaster Risk Reduction Advisor, Oxfam Australia; Elena Robertson, Programs Specialist (Research), Edge Effect; Dr Gillian Fletcher, Researcher and Partner at CollectiveChange; and Paul Daly, Independent Consultant.

Refreshments and finger food will be provided. Register for this free event here.
