Sam Quinn

Researcher | Optimist | Traveler

Sam joined HAG in 2021 after completing the final semester of his graduate studies. He works across HAG’s climate and environment portfolio which encompasses the Humanitarian Horizons research stream Greening the System and our Beyond Barriers research program. In this role, he has worked across a diverse spectrum of areas, ranging from greening humanitarian response, the humanitarian impacts of climate and environmental change, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, anticipatory action and climate policy. He also has experience in localisation and monitoring and evaluation.

Sam has contributed to publications such as the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction 2022 (APMCDRR 2022) Conference Report and Session Summaries, Greening the System: a Vision for a Green Humanitarian Future, On the Front Foot: Envisioning a Model for Anticipatory Action in the Pacific, Treading Gently: Building on Positive Environmental Practice in the Tonga Volcano Response, Beyond Barriers: From Evidence to Action, and others.

Sam has previously volunteered in the Palestinian Territories, gaining experience alongside the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Fawwar refugee camp, and with the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH). Sam holds a Master of International Relations from La Trobe University.
