HAG is putting a spotlight on the back to back typhoons that have hit the Philippines in our latest edition of Closing the Loop — a resource designed to connect evidence, practice, and policy for more informed and effective humanitarian action.
On 2 November 2025, Typhoon Kalmaegi (Tino) struck the Philippines, impacting more than 2.4 million people across eight regions. Many communities, particularly in Cebu, were still recovering from the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that hit on 30 September. Just one week later, Super Typhoon Fung-Wong (Uwan) made landfall, affecting over 1.1 million people in 11 regions, with the greatest impact in Bicol, Central Luzon, and Northern Mindanao.
