Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly shaping humanitarian work in Pakistan.
This report explores how local humanitarian actors are using AI, the opportunities and risks of its adoption, and what this means for locally led humanitarian action and localisation.
It finds that while AI can strengthen local actors’ participation in the humanitarian system, it does not, on its own, shift the power, resources and decision-making needed to advance localisation.
The research was carried out by GLOW Consultants as part of the Advancing Local Leadership in Humanitarian Evidence Stewardship (ALLIES) research partnership.
ALLIES is convened by Humanitarian Advisory Group (HAG) through the Humanitarian Horizons research programme, with funding support from the Broad Reach Foundation.
