Intersecting Peace: Executive Summary
2025 marks the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS). Yet, despite over two decades of work in this area, conflict persists and continues to have devastating impacts on civilians. The abrupt withdrawal of USAID funding and reduced donor support have widened the gap between resources and need. Existing gender inequalities worsen in crises, but women are not just victims of conflict – they lead grassroots humanitarian and protection efforts. Australia can strengthen its contribution to the protection of civilians (PoC) through implementing its National Action Plan (NAP) on WPS and ensuring that it incorporates gender-sensitive approaches.
