Since mid-June, historic monsoonal rains, flooding and landslides have affected 33 million people in Pakistan, killing more than 1000, leaving 3 million displaced, and damaging or destroying almost 1 million homes.
Much of the country is under water – 116 districts have been affected, with 66 officially declared by the Government of Pakistan as ‘calamity hit’.
The situation is expected to worsen in September with unrelenting heavy rains and flooding forecast to continue.
